Calfee Cephal

Redesigned, fabricated, and tested QTS (Quick Tune Steering) Flip Plates for Calfee Cephal Mountain Bike’s head angle adjustability. 3D Design using Autodesk Fusion 360. 3D Printing and 3-axis CNC Machine fabrication of flip plates and frame molds. 

Designed second version of carbon fiber leaf spring rear triangle for additional tire clearance. 3D printed molds and fabricated prototypes using 3k carbon fiber roving.

Shown in the picture above is Patrick Alvidrez, Calfee Design’s production manager. I took this photo during our shoot in Bentonville Arkansas, on the Calfee Cephal cross country trip.

Created calfeedesign.com/cephal webpage, made videos, took photos, promoted on social media, and went on a two week cross country trip with a 3-person team to demo the Calfee Cephal at various mountain biking hotspots.

Electrofit Kits

Designed Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) board for Calfee Design E-Bike Kits. PCB design using Autodesk Eagle and programmed ATmega32u4 microcontroller in C++. 3D printed small parts and adapters. Designed and performed testing, debugging, and assembly procedures. Wrote manuals for both the end user and assembly technicians at Calfee.

Website & E-commerce

Redesigned most of calfeedesign.com in layout, content, verbiage, and back-end file management.

Integrated a new e-commerce platform, photographed products, wrote descriptions, designed shipping strategies and procedures, marketed products using Google advertisements and social media, and more. 

Nautilus Wheels

Created and implemented marketing strategy to target tandem bike customers and owners. Filmed videos and photographed new Calfee Nautilus Wheels. Designed https://calfeedesign.com/nautilus-wheels/ webpage.

Graphic Design

Designed T-shirts, stickers, decals, fonts, business cards, coupons, handouts, and diagrams, using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom. Created icons and webpage layout schemes for calfeedesign.com.

Media

Wrote, directed, filmed, and edited short videos with crews ranging from 1-7 people to promote specific products, the Calfee brand, or provide instructions to customers. Photographed products and events for website, social media, and print purposes.

Used Panasonic GH5, Panasonic G9, and various DJI drones for most film and photography projects. Built and used my custom camera stabilizer rig for a Zero motorcycle to achieve buttery smooth roller shots in the woods and on asphalt. Edited videos using Final Cut Pro. Edited photos using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

Mold Design and Fabrication

Designed compression molds for carbon fiber bicycle frames and various small parts. Used Autdoesk Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, and SolidWorks for 3D Design and Finite Element Analysis. Fabricated compression molds by FDM 3D printing polycarbonate and 3-axis CNC machining aluminum.

Carbon Repair

Pioneered building partnerships with carbon fiber bicycle manufactures to keep more warranty and crash replacement bikes out of the landfill. Networked at bicycle shows and festivals to promote carbon repair partnerships.

Designed https://calfeedesign.com/carbon-repair/ for non-OEM carbon repair customers. Worked with a team to streamline repair process and accessibility to customers.

Sales & Marketing

Communicated directly with customers for sales of products available on calfeedesign.com and managed the live chat. Provided customer support for e-commerce sales.

Strategically promoted products via email and social media marketing. Performed market research to create pricing structures, warranty offerings, and marketing strategies. 

Side Loader Bottle Cage

Designed carbon fiber side loader cage for purist bottles. Prototyped using 3D printed polycarbonate models. Designed and fabricated plastic and aluminum compression molds. Tested carbon fiber side loader bottle cage prototypes and modified designs based on stress/strain data.
